Shelf Sitting Cardinal Class
In this workshop you will learn how to carve a Shelf Cardinal. This class is suited for both beginners and experienced carvers, The only requirement is that you have at least some experiences handling sharp tools. Beginners welcome!
This cardinal would make an excellent gift for Mother’s Day. It sits cutely on any straight edge corner surface, a little buddy to keep you company! This workshop will also be a great experience to practice your whittling skills. At only 85$ per person, you can have a fun afternoon with other carvers and learn something new while you’re at it! This class is also a great peer building activity for co-workers or social bonding activity.
In this class we will be using whittling carving techniques to carve a cute shelf sitting cardinal. Once the carving is complete, you will get to paint your cardinal with acrylic paint.
This class is 6 hours long, from 10am to 4pm with a 30-minute break.
Paige Bengert, an employee here at Chipping Away, will be teaching this class. Paige is a graduate of Sheridan College of Art and Design. Through her educational experience, sculptural work and 3D modelling in mixed medias it has helped her quickly excel as a wood carver. Her enthusiasm as a wood carver will be evident as she teaches this cardinal carving class in our studio space here at Chipping Away. Wood carving knife Recommended: 1.5” or 1” blade size.

This Class will be held Saturday May 2nd, 2026 from 10am-4pm
Registration deadline will be April 24th as material preparations are required.
