What is Pyrography
Pyrography is the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks. Controlled heated pens or handpieces are used to accomplish this.
A large range of tones and shades can be achieved. Varying the type of tip and temperature, in addition to how the pen is applied all create different effects. Light-colored hardwoods such as basswood, beech and birch are best. Their fine grain is consequently not as obtrusive. Pyrography can be applied to leather items, using the same technique. Pyrography is also popular among gourd crafters.
