RED COMPOUND: We have added more 'grease' to the binding agent which makes the compound more pliable and easier to work into your leather strop and the Flexcut Slip Strop. By applying a coat of RED "first", you will find that the Green and/or Gold Compounds will adhere to your strop easier. It is not as abrasive as other compounds, but will give your tools that final 'mirror like' finish. Our 6oz bar will last quite a while!

Leather Strop by Chipping Away Made in our Shop
This strop is made right in our Chipping Away shop. We mount Heavy Duty premium leather on both sides of a hard-board paddle. Other manufactures sell strops that are made with very thin leather strips. We use 10 oz cowhide leather which is about the same thickness as good quality leather belt (1/8" or more)... consequently, it really is Heavy Duty. Leather itself measures 7" X 2" and overall length including the handle is 12".

Standard Leather Power Strop

We offer these Leather Power Strops in two kits: standard kit and Deluxe kit. BOTH kits include a 3.5" diameter leather wheel that is 3/4" wide, a mounting mandrel and a stick of white rouge buffing compound. The DELUXE KIT contains a 3.5" diameter V-shaped leather wheel for buffing inside V-tools and gouges in addition to the 3/4" wide wheel.

If you prefer the use a honing oil this Aluminum Oxide powder is an effective and easy way to add abrasive to your stope, you will achieve the best polish. The powder allows you to use just a little or a lot.
