Heather Martin will teach you how to create this Tree Farm Charcutier Board in time for holiday use or to gift to a loved one.

You will learn a number of texture techniques and about the wide variety of pyrography tools available. She will discuss which woods are preferred and how to food-safe-finish your project.

When creating pyrography projects design is always a big part of the journey, Heather makes this part easy with her back ground in art studies and her expertise in a multitude of mediums.

Just in time for the holidays, this seasonally inspired, Tree Farm Charcuterie Board will make a great addition to your Christmas place setting or a perfect gift for that special someone!  In this workshop, you will explore the beautiful art of pyrography as you learn to use intuitive marks to create textures and depth in your work.  Come and spend a relaxing day with pyrographer, Heather Martin, as you create your own texture board and later apply these marks to your Tree Farm woodburning.

Walnut Hallow brass tip burners and templates will be available for use. Or alternatively, bring your own woodburning tools or rent a wiretip burner from Chipping Away.  This class includes one practice board for creating a texture panel, your choice of charcuterie board in either cherry or maple (sizes vary approx. 8×10″) , 2 ornament rounds and food safe board cream.

No experience necessary.

About your Teacher

Heather Martin, of FireWork Designs, is a Pyrography Artist from Fergus, Ontario that has been woodburning for almost a decade. Her passion for creating is shown in her unique wood burned designs completed on a mix of locally sourced woods and on paper.

From the lines and patterns naturally in the wood to the slow immersive process of woodburning. Heather is drawn to the extensive depth and texture attainable with the medium that is almost sculptural. Heather completed her Bachelor’s of Arts at University of Toronto and Sheridan Institute in Art and Art History. She specialized in Sculpture, Print Media and Photography. The accumulation of her interests are quite apparent in her work.

Her burnings are available in a variety of forms from wall art to usable household items like charcuterie boards, spoons, ornaments and more.

 

Heather sells her work at Local Pieces Gallery in Downtown Fergus and local markets where she often demonstrates her woodburning practice.  Heather enjoys sharing her passion for woodburning in classes and workshops of up to 25 people at locations including Chipping Away, Local Pieces Gallery, Elora Mill, Elora Centre for the Arts, Wellington Museum and Archives and other locations.  She proudly supports the Arts by regularly volunteering at Local Pieces Gallery, Downtown Fergus with mentions in Canadian Living Magazine.

This Class will be held Sunday December 17th, 2023 from 10am-4pm

Registration deadline will be December 10th as material preparations are required.
