Are you brand new to carving? Let Roger teach you the most basic skills needed to becoming a wood carver with this fun and easy Easter ornament.
This class would make a great team building project for co-workers or perfect for a small groups of friends looking to welcome spring in a fun and creative way.
Roger Pilkey is country through and through, raised on a small Ontario farm surrounded by forest and the fresh air of the country. He grew up spending much of his time in those back woods. Roger’s love of the outdoors led him to find Doug Linker on YouTube. When Doug started posting carving videos Roger gave it a try, that’s when fell in love with the art of woodcarving. Roger became a regular customer of Chipping Away making him the perfect friend to invite into our classroom to teach some beginner skills. Like many, Roger found this joyful craft during the pandemic and has invested a great deal of serious time over the the past three years building his skills and becoming a highly skilled carver. He admits he finds inspiration in Woodcarving Illustrated magazine, many books, and YouTube videos.
This class will require you to bring along your own quality carving knife with 1-1/2″ blade and a second with a 1″ detail blade (the DHK pistol grip is perfect). A carving glove can’t be forgotten. The wood and paint will be supplied.
The completed Bunny will be approximately 3″ tall. You should have time to completely carve two and paint one before the end of the class.
This Class will be held Saturday February 24, 2024 from 10am-4pm
Registration deadline will be February 20th as material preparations are required.
Max. number of students is 10, space is limited.
