They have been skived approximately 2 1/2″ on each end before being glued together with our extra strength bonding agent and clamped to ensure a perfect joint every time. They run smooth and evenly. We recommend running them with the ‘smooth side’ facing out and applying a stropping compound of your choice. See our webpage page for specific compounds. Not a bad idea to apply a FEW DROPS of fine oil (honing oil, 3-in-one, etc or even mineral oil) to keep leather supple and keep the compound intact.
