Quiet Head Woodcarving Mallets
This quality line of Quiet Head Woodcarving Mallets is guaranteed unbreakable. The heads are made of a tough urethane material designed to be quiet. In addition, they are able to transmit the maximum blow to the tool. The handles are beautifully turned out of selected, premium New England hardwoods. They are polish sanded. These mallets come in three popular weights of 12, 18, and also 20 ounces.
Both the 12 ounce and the 18 ounce mallets use our small urethane head of 2 3/4″ diameter. The 20 ounce mallet has a urethane head of 3 1/2″ diameter. Use the 12 oz mallet for Detail work and the heavier mallets for stock removal. They measure about 10-1/2″ overall.
There are many wood carvers that believe carving mallets are for ‘larger jobs’. Not so!
Mallets offer greater control.
There is no doubt that larger tools are easier to use when struck with a good quality mallet. Most of all, the huge benefit of using a mallet is the control it offers. How often have you been ‘pushing’ gouge or chisel and suddenly have it slip? Mallets, consequently eliminate such mishaps to a huge extent.
