Nothing will maintain the mirror edge sharpness on your carving knives and chisels like a good leather strop ~ nor make your carving cleaner and easier! This quality strop can be used on all your carving tools and will last a lifetime.  For those carvers who 'travel' it is an excellent alternative to your power strop.

Does your compound 'flake' when applied?  The more aggressive the compound, the less matrix (or grease and wax) is used as a binding agent.   The most common grits used by woodcarvers (in order of aggressiveness) is Red, Green, Gold, and White.  Pop suggests that if you first apply a coat of Chipping Away's 'red compound' to your leather it will serve as a base and you will find that the more aggreesive compounds will stick to it easier than sticking directly to the leather!

RED COMPOUND:  We have added more 'grease' to the binding agent which makes the compound more pliable and easier to work into your leather strop.  It is not as abrasive as other compounds, but will give your tools that final 'mirror like' finish.

GREEN COMPOUND:  Our Green compound uses a blend of chromium oxide, aluminum oxide, silica in a matrix of various waxes and grease.  This compound is a medium grit and produces nice polish.

FLEXCUT GOLD COMPOUND:   This polishing compound is the most aggressive of our three (red, green, gold).   You will get the job done faster whether polishing by hand or with power. Comes in a 3oz bar.

The Flexcut SlipStrop is an economical way for maintaining your tools razor edge. It has been specially molded to allow for polishing and deburring the hard to reach areas on the inside of V-tools and gouges as well as the outside edge bevel. Either side of the strop can be used. Each Slip Strop includes a mini-bar of Flexcut Gold polishing compound and detailed instructions.

The Deluxe Strop contains a 3.5" diameter V-shaped leather wheel for buffing inside V-tools and gouges. Both kits include a 3.5" diameter leather wheel 3/4" wide and a stick of white rouge buffing compound.
