Why is Chipping Away, noted for their quality carving tools and products, selling tools made in China? In our endeavor to serve all carvers from Beginner to Professional and from the budget minded to those that demand the best, we have chosen to add these Chinese tools to our product line-up.

The main problem in securing a line of hand carving tools was to find one that was suitable quality and we believe we have found just the tools. They are made by a 3rd generation family run enterprise that produces quality, traditional tools for China’s professional carvers.
Hand forged from high carbon tool steel and tempered to hold their edges.

This is a great set for medium size carvings. The durable hardwood handles suitable for both mallet use and pushing the tools by hand. All of the gouges and chisels (except the V tools) are made in the ‘fishtail’ style. The set includes 18 gouges and chisels with widths from 12 to 30mm and sweeps from #1 through to #7, plus 2 V tools. The V tools have a negative or reverse rake. Hand forged high carbon tool steel and tempered to Rc 58-60, they will hold their edge well. Sharpened in low angles to permit carving with less effort.
