The Mini-Grinder comes with 2 high speed steel blades ... whether you purchase the Kit or the Complete package with an angle grinder.  These HSS blades will last quite a well if you are working with soft woods only.  If you are doing a lot of work on harder woods, we recommend the Mini Tungsten Blade (see above).

Yes, these are expensive!  The reason is that each one is mounted on a plastic backing machined to fit your Mini Grinder.  So listen to Pop again: Don't throw these out after the sanding surface becomes worn!  Simply purchase some standard 2" sanding discs and glue them on top of the existing disc.  I will glue 3 or 4 discs on top of each other on my Mini Grinder before scraping them all off and starting over.  The ONLY time you should consider purchasing a package of these discs is when you have worn out the plastic mounts.  And remember ..a soft touch during use is the secret to long disc life!

Use for sharpening the high speed steel blades that come with the Mini Grinder.  Tip from Pop:  File the teeth straight across ...do not angle them!  Also keep force on the upper edge of the teeth so as to sharpen the 'hook' or you will get burning when carving.

For long belt life, the belt MUST be perfectly aligned between the two pulleys.  If aligned perfectly, you can expect many hours of use, (Pop gets around 200 hours) ....if NOT aligned perfectly, you can expect between 5 minutes and one hour depending how much the belt is out of alignment.

The bearings are sealed and do not require lubricating and will generally last the hobbyist a lifetime.  Professional may need to replace over time.
